Students Walk 20KM to Bring Teacher’s Body Home

A group of students in Embu County on Saturday walked for 20 Kilometres, in a bid to raise Sh5.3 Million for their teacher who passed on while undergoing treatment in India.

A group of students in Embu County on Saturday walked for 20 Kilometres, in a bid to raise Sh5.3 Million for their teacher who passed on while undergoing treatment in India.

The students from Siakago Girls High School and their Principal Lucy Muthoni, walked from their school in Mbeere North Sub County to Embu town, in an event attended by area MP Charles Njagagua.

Muthoni said that the school decided to have a charity walk to look for sponsors and well-wishers to help raise funds because they did not raise enough funds while at school.

“The teachers, school staff and students  devised  several methods to raise funds such as  contributions, selling doughnuts, biscuits and T-shirts but  we did not raise enough money that’s why we decided to take a charity walk to help bring back our teacher’s body,” Muthoni was quoted by the Star.
